ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Optics Chapter Leads Hands-On Outreach Workshop

The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Optics Chapter, led by students from the Centre of Light for Life, recently delivered a hands-on outreach workshop in partnership with Children’s University at the University of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.

The workshop introduced school-aged children to the science of colour through simple and engaging activities. Participants explored how colours mix, sorted M&Ms, and used magnifiers to look closely at phone screens to see how pixels create the images we see.

Feedback from the students was positive, with comments such as:

“Best excursion ever.â€
“I’m definitely coming to uni.â€
“I didn’t want to come here today… and now I’m so glad. I’m definitely coming here.â€

These responses highlight the importance of student-led outreach in fostering curiosity and interest in science and higher education. The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Optics Chapter is led by PhD students who volunteer their time to share their knowledge and skills with the community.Ìý

All six students are members of IPAS. We salute their leadership in running this initiative and their commitment to engaging the next generation of scientists.

The event was organised and delivered by Gabriel Britto Monteiro, Ramses Eduardo Bautista Gonzalez, Ané Kritzinger, Zane Peterkovic, Emi Hughes, and Aman Punse, in partnership with Children’s University.
