Outstanding Debts for Domestic Students

Late, non payment or incomplete deferralĀ of student contribution (HECS-HELP)

If you do not pay yourĀ Student ContributionĀ by the due date, and you:

  • are eligible forĀ HECS-HELP, and
  • have completed a 'Request for Commonwealth Support andĀ HECS-HELP'Ā form, and
  • have provided the University with your Tax File Number (TFN)

any outstandingĀ Student ContributionĀ after census date will be deferred to aĀ HECS-HELPĀ debt with theĀ . There will be no impact on your studies. Once yourĀ Student ContributionĀ has been deferred, payment cannot be accepted by the University and you must contact the ATO with regard to payment of the debt.

However,Ā there are consequences that apply if you do not pay yourĀ Student ContributionĀ by the due date and you

  • have not applied forĀ HECS-HELPĀ to defer yourĀ StudentĀ ContributionĀ payment, or
  • have applied forĀ HECS-HELP, but have not provided your TFN to the University, or
  • are not eligible forĀ HECS-HELP

your enrolmentĀ willĀ be cancelled if theĀ Student ContributionĀ is not paid on, or before the census date. The University will notify you that your enrolment has been cancelled.

Your Tax File Number can be entered intoĀ .

If you have applied for a TFN but have not received it by the census date, please refer to the information about TFN's on ourĀ HECS-HELPĢż±č²¹²µ±š.

Late, non payment or incomplete deferralĀ of local tuition fees (FEE- HELP)

If you do not pay yourĀ local tuitionĀ feesĀ by the due date, and you

  • are eligible forĀ FEE-HELP, and
  • have completed a 'Request for FEE-HELP assistance' form, and
  • have provided the University with your Tax File Number (TFN)

any outstandingĀ local tuition feesĀ as at census date will be deferredĀ to aĀ FEE-HELPĀ debt to theĀ . There will be no impact on your studies.

There are serious consequences if you do not meet your financial obligations to the University by the due date and you

  • have not completed a 'Request forĀ FEE-HELPĀ assistance' form, and
  • have not provided your Tax File Number, or
  • are not eligible forĀ FEE-HELP

For details of the University’s approach to debts incurred by students, whether currently enrolled or not, refer to ourĀ University Student Debt Outcomes.

The consequences for non payment may include cancellation of enrolment for students who have not paid their fees by the census date or applied forĀ FEE-HELP. The University will provide you with a warning before cancelling your enrolment.

Your Tax File Number can be entered intoĀ .

If you have applied for a TFN but have not received it by the census date, please refer to the information about TFN's on ourĀ FEE-HELPĢż±č²¹²µ±š.
